Question

What is Projects in the InDesign home screen?

Does anyone have any practical observations about working with Projects in InDesign 2026?

Can I File > Package files and load them into a Projects folder for sharing?

Is it limited to only files that are already cloud-based?

I can find no clear information in the helpx so far.

    Hi Abhishek,

Here is what that page says:

    Add files to a project

    1. Select Projects, and then choose your desired project.

    2. Select Add   icon > Move files or Create a folder.

    3. Once you select Move files, a dialog box appears that asks you to select the existing files you want to move to the project. Tip: You can also save newly created files directly to a project from within InDesign.

    4. Select Move to confirm and add the files.

In that brief set of steps it mentions “files” four times. But it seems limited to only .INDDC, .PSDC, and .AIC files. Maybe it includes Express files (I don't know) I cannot browse to any files on my computer.

If that is the case, the helpx file should be clear about that. It should explicitly state what can go into the Project folder and what cannot go into the Project folder.

    Hi @Mike Witherell,

Thanks for raising this. You may find this HelpX article useful, as it explains how Projects work in InDesign, including sharing and organizing files: https://helpx.adobe.com/in/indesign/using/organize-share-collaborate-with-projects.html.

    I hope this helps.
