What kind of evil is this? Paragraph styles have no effect when applied and show missing fonts?

Paragraph style font application failed.
Oddly enough, I this font that I apply from the control bar is working.

In the list of word weights, there is an extra [(R)], sometimes Regular becomes [Regular], and R does not have [].

In the past, I often encountered this kind of style, mainly because after packing the file, the ‘Document fonts’ and ‘C:\windowns\Fonts’ directory in the packing directory conflict.
But my document fonts have not been packaged. I am using someone else's file, has he ever packaged it?

Previously, just finding and replacing fonts was fine, but today I tossed it around for a long time to no avail.

I created a new document, recreated the paragraph styles, and everything worked fine!

In your "*" CharStyle you have "(R)" Font Style applied - but in ParaStyle - "Times New Roman" Font used:

It's because ParaStyle requires Font and Font Style to be specified - CharStyle on the other hand - doesn't require all properties to be specified.

And as you are mixing one Font with Font Style from a different Font - that's the result.

Hi @dublove , As @Robert at ID-Tasker points out you have both the Left Paragraph Style and the Character Style applied to the text. Either set the text’s Character Style to [None] or define a Font Family that takes the Font Style in your Character Style.

Did you apply a character style, even before any text was selected?
