What's the process to make simple text macros?

I would like to make some simple macros that output a certain text string like "Photo by Aaron Anderson" if I input something like "paa" through the keyboard. Is there a way to do this through InDesign? I am in Mac OS. I feel like this must be possible, but when I look through various scripting documentation and tutorials I haven't seen anything that exactly addresses this; maybe I am looking in the wrong place?

Check out the "Autocorrect" feature, which you can access through Preferences.

You can add any string you like there and have it change to anything else. But you do need to add a space afterwards to get it to click in.

Text macros can be done easily in InCopy which is part of the Creative Cloud subscription.
