my text disappears after i delete a paragraph  marker. the rest of the document disappears. it is weird. i have made the invisible text visible and see nothing weird in the formatting. It can be pages and pages of text.  I am up to date on the app and i don’t see how to fix it. the language is persian.

You’ve various alignment options selected, align to binding, align to right etc and the mix seems to be glitching out the World Ready Paragraph Composer.

When I select the text before hand - set to World Ready Single Line Composer

    Delete the paragraph return.

    It’s fine.

I’m not well versed on RTL languages and alignment, but something in the mix of alignments and merging those seems to trigger the World Ready Paragraph Composer to give up.

    The text is pushed out.

If you go to the last page you’ll see the red + that means it’s overset.

I clicked this and put a wide text frame on the paste board and the text flows into it - so I’m not entirely sure where your issue is.

But something is glitching the World Ready Paragraph Composer.

    Hi @Ali-Sama,

I tried to reproduce this on my end using InDesign 21.3 on Windows 11, but I wasn’t able to replicate the behavior. Could you please confirm if by “latest””you are also referring to version 21.3?

To better understand what’s happening on your side, it would really help if you could share a short screen recording showing the complete workflow leading up to the issue.

Also, if possible, please share a sample affected file so I can test it here. Kindly package the file before sharing using the steps here: https://helpx.adobe.com/indesign/using/preflighting-files-handoff.html#package_files

If the file is confidential, feel free to share it via DM using any public cloud platform like Google Drive or Dropbox.

    Looking forward to your update.

    Abhishek

Firstly duplicate your file and work on a duplicate until you isolate the issue.

Since the text is Persian, keep RTL composition in mind. Make sure the paragraph composer is set to World-Ready and that no direction overrides are causing instability when paragraphs combine.

Start by isolating whether the text is actually gone or just hidden. If you delete the paragraph marker then turn on hidden characters and check for a red plus on the text frame.

If you see overset, click the out port, load the text into the cursor, and draw a large frame on the pasteboard. Then reduce the frame width until the text disappears again this helps pinpoint the exact content causing the overflow.

Select the affected text and apply [Basic Paragraph], then clear overrides (Alt/Option + click the style).

“No Break” is worth checking, but across large sections it usually comes from a character style or GREP style or being manually applied. Clear character styles and overrides to rule that out.

Look at Keep Options on the paragraph after the deleted marker. Aggressive settings like “Keep with next” across multiple paragraphs or “Keep lines together” can force large chunks of text out of the frame when structure changes.

Anchored or inline objects are another common trigger. If there’s an object sitting at that join point, deleting the paragraph marker can disrupt layout flow or introduce overset. Try removing or temporarily cutting the object to test.

It disappears. I can do a select all and copy paste it. I can type more text and merge it successfully . But if I delete the new text is goes away.

     No overset.

That messes the text up and makes it unlegible

Hard to know what’s going on, can you share some screenshots or the file itself?
