Question

When I print an Indesign file the font changes to a serif italic one and merges words together

Hi,

When I print my InDesign file it changes the font and makes it completely illegible, merging words and letters. I have uninstalled and reinstalled, I have tried going back to an earlier version of Indesign with the same issue still happening. I have checked that the font file is validated (which it is). This is happening across mutiple files so it's not that a specific file is corrupt. I have reset my preferences with no effect.

I had been printing a file absolutely fine and then the same day (no app closure inbetween) it started doing this and now it is doing it for every file.

Any suggestions?

Have you tried exporting a PDF and printing that?

That works fine but I want to use the print booklet feature on InDesign so really need to print through InDesign.

Export a PDF and print the booklet using Acrobat's booklet feature.

Is this happening with an Adobe font? If so try signing out and then signing back into your Adobe account in the Creative Cloud desktop app. This simple process often fixes issues with Adobe fonts although I've not heard of the particular problem that you're having before. Hopefully, this will fix it.

Hi,

Thanks for this - it has resolved some of the issues but not all. I think either creative cloud or fonts is having issues as since doing this, my programmes are struggling to recognise a lot of fonts even though they are downloaded and within my Creative Cloud/Adobe fonts account. Although weirdly the font that is changing when printing still doesn't flag as anything wrong.

Did you save inbetween the fileon a different place?

Nope. I have since saved a copy and packaged the file but no luck with any of those either
