Whern updating my 2-page TOC, I get overset text (2nd page disappears)

My TOC is two pages long. When I update it, the second page disappears, I get overset text, and I have to add a page at the end and place the overset text. This happens every time.

I'm using a book file.

Windows 11

InDesign 20.5 x64

Thank you, Peter.

I did have a style override right at the point the problem was occurring, which I fixed, but that didn't solve the issue. Then I added some sections before the issue point, and the problem moved. It seems that I had extra text frames stacked on each other in the TOC chapter; cleared those out, and it seems to be working.

Guesing blind, here since we have aeeaentially no information about your file, but this type if problem is usually traceable to Keep Options in the paragrapgh style definition in the first overset paragraph.

Ity is generally best practice to define ne styles for the TOC entries themselves.
