Why are my placed psd file backgrounds not showing up when placed in Indesign?

    I actually can not see any reason it would not. Can you add another Photoshop image and see if that shows up. If it does not then:

    1. Do you have another layer or object covering it?
    2. When you place check "Show Import Options" Then look at the layers tab. It should be in view (or turn on the layers you want it view.
    3. If no images are showing try reseting your preferences.

    Reset Preferences:

    For InDesign

    1. Exit the application

    2. Press and hold Shift+Ctrl+Alt (Windows) or Shift+Option+Command+Control (macOS)

    as you start InDesign. You are prompted to delete the current settings. The new

    preferences files are created when you start the application.

    Thanks that helped

    The key was in “show options". I had to deselect “apply photoshop clipping path” under the image tab.

    Another question based on that is my psd file was created using a mask but then flattened so there is no mask showing in the psd layers. It is one layered background image. Why is the mask still hidden in the psd file somewhere?
