Why can't I change the start and end points of my paragraphs?

I am no clearer on your actual issue than Willi, but looking at your example, it looks as if you are using soft returns (line breaks) in your ingredients panel. It's generally poor practice to use soft returns, except in a very selective way. make your ingredients separate paragraphs, adjust the style as needed, and you will have more reliable results and more control over their formatting.
