why is INDD opening beta when I run a script all of a sudden?

If I go to run Place Multiple script in INDD, it works but opens and runs it in the Beta version. (So now I have two versions of INDD open)

It does not allow you to then move those pages to a different document in INDD (not beta). Workaround- I can also open the original document in beta and move the pages. But why is INDD jumping out to run in Beta only for the script in the first place?

Has anyone else run into this?

Looks like you are running Windows (VB Scripts listed). From where are you launching the script? If rom outside InDesign itself I don't find surprising that the beta version would launch as Windows notoriously ignores waht yiou tell it about what application verion is associated with any particualr file type and will open the most recently installed version of the app regardless.

Launching from within INDD and only INDD is open. (Not like I have INDD and betaINDD open at the same time). Not launching from a Windows browser.

I did notice that editing in Beta and then clicking back to INDD it drops the share for review and links. Not super important at this point, but something to consider if you are sharing a doc and trying to add a twenty-page PDF via a script and keep sharing the document... it isn't an option.

You might want to check out this other script (which I think is superior) and see if the problem persists:

Do you mean PlaceMultipagePDF.jsx script shipped with InDesign or someother script?

Good question- I should have clarified that.

The preinstalled Adobe version.
