Question

Will InDesign 2018 convert/open documents from InDesign 2017 without the CC functionality?

Our business removes the CC functionality. So I wondered will InDesign 2018 still covert/open documents created from InDesign 2017 or older versions since I read that the CC does the conversion?

Or do I need to just keep both versions?

I got it now. You can convert/open with no problems moving up Versions but it's going down versions that's a little more tricky.

We don't have use of any of the creative cloud functions for InDesign, they're removed from the product. So needed to know if there was still a way to convert/open documents in CC 2018 from previous versions with the CC function since Adobe CC2018 states:

Opening InDesign CC 2018 Files in an Earlier Version In the InDesign CC 2014.2 update (January 2014), a feature was added which makes opening newer versions possible if you have a Creative Cloud subscription. If you have an earlier version of InDesign CC, CC 2014, CC 2015, or CC 2017, when you attempt to open an InDesign CC 2018 file, you’ll see a dialog box. It will tell you that the file needs to be converted to your version. It also warns that features in the newer version may be modified or omitted. All you have to do is click the Convert button, and the Creative Cloud will convert it.

You seem to be confusing opening CC2018 files in earlier versions with opening earlier versions in CC2018. Just open them!

I have no idea what this means: "Our business removes the CC functionality." Can you please explain that?
