will not open file due to plug in

I am trying to work with files created by someone else, and I am getting an error message that refers to plug ins for the file (I know for certain it was not open in another application). Has anyone experienced this? Any tips for how to fix it?

That script is for Windows only.

I'm on a Windows machine here - I can try it for you if you would like to PM the file to me.

Or anyone else if they can do it.

A version of the script exists for MAC (I got it a long time ago).

I prefer to share scripts from their original source, so I will see if I can find where I got it.

Edit: I just tested the linked script on my Mac, and it did work.

System and ID version: InDesign 17.4, iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, Mid 2015)

Ask for the IDM file. (Do you have the latest version?)

This script may be of some use. It exports to IDML without full opening the file. It will sometimes work to rescue a file than cannot otherwise be opened.
