Hello,

I need to ask for your help or see if anyone else is having the same problem. My computer downloaded and installed the Windows September 14, 2021—KB5005566 (OS Build 18363.1801) update. Since then, my Indesign is acting strange. Specifically, my cursor will not change to whatever tool I am using and then some tools are not working propoerly at all, especially the eyedropper.

Is anyone else having this problem? If so, what did you do to solve?

The IT group in my office tried deleting my preferences, but it didn't work. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

R

So it turns out, this was NOT and InDesign problem! It turned out to be a Windows screenshare problem!!

I usually dock my laptop to double monitors. I noticed when I unplugged from the docking station and used InDesign on just the laptop, the cursor turned into my tools when selected, and all my tools worked fine. It was only when I was docked onto my double monitors that I started having problems.

Our IT administrator applied a registry patch to fix the screenshare issue.

Thanks to anyone who read through my issue. Hopefully this will be helpful to someone else in the future.

Hi @12345Scarlett:

OK, 16.4 is the latest so that is good. Have IT continue to work through to the end of the post I linked to, above. Let us know if that helps.

Thanks again for looking into my problem. However, after manually deleting preferences my cursor still will not turn into a tool, and my eyedropper still doesn't work.

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling and it still doesn't work.

And since my computer is a work computer, I can't get a hold of Adobe support.

I'm at a loss.

Hi @12345Scarlett:

Which version of InDesign are you using, exactly? You can see the version number by choosing Window > About InDesign.

And how far did your IT dept go to delete preferences? Just the keyboard shortcut, or on to rebuilding cache/preferences?
