Working offline not possible anymore? (Win 11, v21.6)

I have noticed that I cannot work offline anymore, it keeps saying “We can’t verify your subscription status” (error 12015). I did a clean test a day later - switched off wifi in house and on the computer, no internet cable attached, and switched the computer on from a really shut-down status (not from sleep). Same message. Hitting ‘Try again’ repeatedly did not help.

To be clear, I have worked the whole day on InDesign with Internet, 2 h ago (not 30 days). This would mean I cannot work on the plane for 14 hours, or on other places without internet… which I could do before.

Is this normal behaviour?

Very happy InDesign user for 15 years, now frustrated because of this, AI popups (InD, Acrobat), Gen AI switching again on after an update and a constant fear of security (confidentiality) issues. Not good.

Thanks in advance,

Mark

Defintely not normal behavior. Have you tried logging out and back in while you do have your computer connected?

    Hello @Mark38723834kpdb

I’m sorry to hear about your experience. This is not normal. Could you please try the suggestions shared in this help article (https://helpx.adobe.com/download-install/apps/troubleshoot/login-issues/cannot-verify-subscription-status-offline-mode.html), including the ones listed at the bottom, restart your computer, and then relaunch InDesign to see if it helps?

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Aha, thanks, Anubhav. Cannot test it now, I will try tomorrow.

Could not turn auto date/time off (IT restriction), but at least when trying it again I have the “can’t verify...” and “Last day...”, which gives me the ‘Continue offline’ button. Hope to have this as well when I really do not have internet on a flight. Will take an alternative program on another laptop with me just to be sure.

Sorry for my rant about other problems. AI popped up in Acrobat, requiring to turn off Gen AI again just like yesterday, so I decided to use my browser as default PDF viewer instead. Problem solved!

Positively surprised by the reactivity on this forum, thanks for this! Hope to be able to contribute myself as well!

Thanks for your very quick reaction, Bob!
Logged out from InD > logged back in > closed InD > disabled Wifi > shut down > after startup I now get the message ‘This is the last day….’ and a button ‘Continue offline’. That seems to work, well, at least for a plane trip, not for 30 days… I have a feeling this is still not expected behaviour, but this will at least provide many fruitful working hours!

    Thanks again!

Are you on a month to month subscription or an annual plan? I’m not sure it should make a difference but who knows.
