Working on InDesign files stored in One Drive

Hi, my Company is thinking about using One Drive instead of our onsite storage, we have sometimes 5 designers working on multiple files at a time & perhaps doing corrections to these files throughout the day. Can the InDesign, Illustrator & Photoshop files be openedd from One Drive without having to download these files to our own desktops & uploading without any issues? If so what is the best way to do this. I use One Drive for sharing files with others but have never worked on files only downloaded them & saved on our Network? We have PC Windows 11. cheers Leanne

Cloud storage like Dropbox and OneDrive offer a feature where the files are stored in the cloud only and downloaded on demand. Unfortunately, this can cause InDesign to time out with larger files and crash so "cloud-only" has to be disabled.

As I understand it, Onedrive works like Dropbox. The files are stored locally and synced to the service. So the files are on your desktop. I use dropbox for my work-in-progress, and it’s quite convenient. If a client sends me files when I’m away from my home/office I can copy them to Dropbox on my phone. When I get home there they are. Plus I know my work is constantly backed up (it is anyways, twice).
