would my firewall cause my software to close?

When i was opening Indesign, my firewall was asking to allow Indesign access each time. Each time I give it access. However, when I didn't do it on the split second, the software shut down. Why is that?

It did get activated. It shows that it is.

But also, each time I open the software, it asks for access to the firewall. If it doesn't get access right away, it shuts down. This doesn't make sense because it is CS5. It is not a cloud version. It is not a trial version.

I suspect it wants firewall permission to check the activation status. Have you tried running in compatibility mose for Win7?

It seems like some software connected to it is trying to get through to a server to verify it every time I open it to prove it is mine. Since they have it on the website, and there are links, it should not have to do that every time. I also hope that they do not delete the links on my account like before. I just have some old CDs to software, and then what they gave me, but many downloads for the software from my account are removed.

CS5 is ancient software and is unsupported on any new Windows or Mac. I assume it's Windows because it wouldn't even install on a Mac. And yes, CS software, IIRC, did prompt the firewall permission on a new install but after that there shouldn't be a problem.
