X and Y Coordinates Issues

Hi Guys,

I am having an issue with the x and y coordinates when I set it to 4p7 (picas is the unites of messurement) it sets it off the page but when my co-worker does it, it sets it to the right place on the A4 page. We are both using Windows 10 and the same version of InDesign CC. Does anyone know what might be causing this issues?

Regards
Ashleigh

    Hi Ashleigh,

    two causes for this:

    1. Your zero point for x and y is not at the upper left corner of the page.

    2. You rotated the view of the spread in the pages panel.

Then positioning objects after coordinates is a drag because of a bug.

    Before suggesting anything else:
Do you work with a facing-pages document?

Did you inspect the rulers—the context menu by right-clicking the horizontal ruler?
What does it say? "Ruler per Page", "Ruler per Spread" or "Ruler at Spine"?

You can change the zero point if "Ruler per Page" or "Ruler per Spread" is set.
Then reset the zero point to default with a double click in the field where horizontal and vertical rulers meet.

    Regards,
    Uwe

It turns out that the problem was that the X and Y points were not set the same

Thank you for the help and quick response.

    Hi Ashleigh,

so the zero point ( in relation to the upper left corner of the page ) was at a different position compared to the one of your co-worker? That's the simplest cause for differences in positioning objects.

    Good, that this solved…

    Regards,
    Uwe

Are you both using the same transform anchor point in the Transform panel?
