Question

14.2 crashes when rearranging in a collection.

Running Lightroom Classic 14.2 on Windows 11 Pro, version 10.0.26100, Intel i7-14700K,  (all drivers updated)

Created a  synced collection which includes about 90 pictures. Some of them are virtual copies. They are all color and star labeled.  Selected 'Sort' to 'Custom order'.

When moving/rearranging pictures using drag-n-drop the application crashes in more than 50% of the cases.

@JohnnyBeBad  Unfortunately you haven't given us any information about your system. Therefore, all proposed solutions are a look into the crystal ball.

Please provide a copy of your 'System Info'. This can be get from the LrC Help > System Info menu item. There's a copy button in the System Info dialog. Press this button and paste the info into your next forum post.

Is your system up-to-date? Do you have installed all recent updates and patches for the operating system and the device drivers, especially the graphic driver. If you have a NVidia graphic card installed, make sure that you are using the recent Studio version of the driver, not the Game Ready version.

In the meantime you can try to reset the preferences of Lightroom Classic:  How to reset Lightroom Classic preferences (adobe.com)

It's recommended to backup your preferences before you reset the preferences to the default settings:

My System: Intel i7-8700K - 64GB RAM - NVidia Geforce RTX 3060 - Windows 11 Pro 25H2 -- LR-Classic 15 - Photoshop 27 - Nik Collection 8 - PureRAW 5 - Topaz Photo

I've just encountered exactly same issue. Reordering elements in a collection crashes lightroom. No error, no info, application just closes.

Don't attach the system info. There's a copy button in the System Info dialog. Press this button and paste the info into your next forum post.

No error message. Have not seen issue before.

Update: After several restarts of LRc and the computer I can no longer reproduce the issue. Guess it's not application related after all.

Thank you for confirming. Do you see any sort of error message? May I also ask you to share your System Info? You can find this by going to Help > System Info. Copy and paste everything into a text file and attach it to your response.

Has this happened in any previous version of Lightroom Classic?

Hey @Lars W

Oh no! That sounds frustrating. Have you been able to submit a Crash Report to Adobe? If so, can you DM me your Adobe ID (email)? This will help us find the crash report.
