15.3.1 Sky and Subject Masks fail silently

In 15.3 they worked fine.

In 15.3.1 pressing the button makes Lightroom think for a second but no mask is added.

Downgrading back to 15.3 solved the issue again.

Please do the LR menu command Help > System Info, click the Copy button in the upper right corner, and paste into your reply here, so we can see exactly which versions of hardware and software LR thinks you're running and important LR options that are set.

Apparently other people have the same issue.

Except that is an old thread, about a version that you say does not have that problem...

That is true, but it is the exact same issue. It is interesting though. Maybe a fix in 15.3.1 caused new problems with masking.

I have an AMD 6900xt with 20 GB vram. The drvers are updated to latest version.

It is an easy excuse just to blame graphics drivers. All other software using my graphics card works fine and so does the previous version of  LrC. Maybe, just maybe Adobe should test their latest version with current drivers on current hardware, and if it does not work, make sure it does.

I don’t work for Adobe, I’m just a Lightroom user like yourself sharing my knowledge to help people, so I need no excuses. AI mask problems are almost always GPU driver problems. And like I said: a newer version of Lightroom Classic can have problems with a GPU driver that was still fine with the previous version. What other software does is irrelevant.

Checking my GPU driver was the thing I did because I also suspected problem with that one. But what GPU should I upgrade to then as I have the latest version?

It is not irrelevant that other software works. That point to this being a LrC problem.

AI denoise and spot removel works fine also. It is only masks that fail silently with no feedback.

You do not mention your hardware. Problems like this on Windows computers are almost always caused by outdated GPU drivers. Each updated version of Lightroom Classic is more demanding than the previous one in this respect. Check the website of your GPU manufacturer for driver updates. If you use a Ndivia GPU, then make sure you install the Studio drivers, not the Game Ready drivers.
