Question

27000 photos and videos synced from Adobe Cloud, still no video visible - why?

I'm switching back to Lightroom Classic CC after finding several features missing from Lightroom CC for Cloud.  I had over 70000 photos and videos in the Cloud, just over 1TB which the instruction for migrating back to Lightroom Classic say just sync them.  Photos are syncing fine and are visible, but not one video is visible in the Grid View or Loupe view.  Instead the show as a waveform and with an 'i' in a black circle which when clicked brings up a dialogue saying "Lightroom has encountered problems reading this video" "You will not be able to make adjustments to this video".

If I trace the video through to File Explorer and double click the MP4 video file, it displays just fine (in 5K Player).  What is going wrong in Lightroom Classic?  The videos display fine in Lightroom CC on iPad and iPhone

Syncing is now stuck at 66,012 photos in Lightroom Classic CC while it says 'Syncing 1014 photos'.  Its been saying this all day.  I still have no access to real Adobe personnel.  What support am I paying for at £20 per month!!  I only wish I had twice the storage I need so I could keep backups of 1TB of photos as well as trusting them to Adobe's cloud!  Obviously I've been taking photos and videos since I put what I do have backup of into the cloud.  Are you suggesting I should throw away the 500Gb uploaded since then?

You said ' . . back to' That indicates you previously used Classic before using CC (Cloud)

You must have those 70k files on your local system else you couldn't synced them to the cloud.

And, again, you surely didn't attempt a 70k file sync without being sure your could 'go back' to using Classic just as before the sync attempt!

Yes but my MacBook Pro doesn’t have a huge SSD so in order to get cloud working first, I had to clear out the memory, including the old Catalog which was not used on the Cloud. Also I’d taken lots of photos and video since switching to the cloud. So the old Catalog would not be much use. It wasn’t switch to cloud one day and back to massif the next day.

If you are 'switching back to Lightroom Classic CC' why are you messing with anything to do with syncing?

Just use Lr CC desktop to delete the files from the cloud.

Then open Classic to the previously used catalog and go to work.

I assume you do have backups of all those 70k files and of your Classic catalogs?

What previously used Catalog? As I said I am migrating from Lightroom CC Cloud on my MacBook Pro to Lightroom Classic CC. Cloud version has no Catalog. Adobe’s instructions for migration are to sync with the cloud, which has been filling my 1TB hard drive (extremely slowly) as the photos sync, but no videos have turned up readable. When they were last on a hard drive Lightroom could read them.

Are you saying it’s impossible to migrate to Classic from CC?
