Question

3 Drives copied to one and unable to reconnect drives/folders

High Sierra upgrade rendered 3 of my Seagate GoFlex external photo archival drives un-readable.  I was able to copy them all to a single new hard drive using another (non-High Sierra) computer.  I renamed each folder on the new drive the same as the old drive and copied all the contents with the same hierarchy.  I am unable to get the catalogue to recognize and re-connect to the new location.  It knows where the folder is on the new drive, but none of the "?" or "!" go away and none of the pictures are available to edit in any of the sub-folders.  It keeps giving the option to "merge" when I try to re-connect.  The "merge" option does nothing when selected.  Apple and Seagate are of no help with this sudden creation of unreadable Seagate GoFlex drives.

Could the problem be I'm trying to re-connect a "drive" with what is now a "folder"?

Thank you for your help.  (This has been a long 3 week battle to get 10 years of my work reconnected to my Mac Pro)

Does this mean that you renamed every single folder, or just the parent folder?

Describe the exact steps, in detail, stating the exact command/function you used in Lightroom, leaving nothing out, that you followed to try to get Lightroom to reconnect to (at least one of) your folders. Details, details, details!

What should normally happen is you go to the Folders panel in the Library, right-click on one of the old top-most folders that you moved, select "find missing", navigate to the new location.

Repeat for each moved folder.

Since you get a "merge" question, did you put the three old folders into the same one folder on the new drive?
