5.3 catalogue update to the latest, any suggestions on how to go about it?

I have been using the 5.3 catelouge for ages and want to use it withthe latest LR. Any suggestion on how to go about this? I have a sub and have downlowed LR but it will not open my Catalouge.

You probably took the wrong subscription, or installed the wrong product. What you need is Lightroom Classic, not the app that is just called 'Lightroom'. Lightroom Classic comes in the Photography Plan subscription (Lightroom and Photoshop are also included in that plan), it is not the version in the Lightroom Plan subscription. Lightroom Classic can simply open your catalog, will convert it, and that is all there's to it.
