Question

A little confused about LR preset folders (since the update) - Windows 10

I'm a little confused on how I need to organize my LR presets.

I feel like I need to keep my presets in "C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Lightroom\Develop Presets\Lightroom Presets" since that's what appears to allow me to use LR CC Classic and it appears from that folder the XMPs are created that get used for LR CC presets.

Is that correct?

There's also a "C:\users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Lightroom CC\Develop Presets"? So, what is the purpose of that folder versus the one above and do I need to migrate my LR presets to "C:\users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Lightroom CC\Develop Presets"?

Thank you

Steve

That location is for versions of LR Classic prior to LR 7.3.  In LR Classic 8.0, you can see the correct locations of the folders used for develop presets by clicking Preferences > Presets > Show Lightroom Develop Presets:

The folder C:\users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Lightroom CC\Develop Presets stores the presets used by Lightroom CC (the "new" Lightroom CC, the cloud-focused version). It isn't used by LR Classic (the desktop-focused version).

I'd recommend using the "Store presets with Catalog" option shown above. There are advantages to this if you want to go there, but you'll know where they reside if you know where your catalog is.
