Abnormal operation issue with AI noise removal function

cpu : ryzen 2600

ram : 24gb

vga : rtx2060 (6gb)

driver : 546.33 (released 23.12)

When using the AI noise removal function with a 20 million pixel raw file of Canon EOS R6, it usually takes about 15 seconds through RTX2060. (The time calculated in advance is about 15 seconds and is similar.)

However, even if a similar raw file created from the same camera is indicated in advance as “It will take about 15 seconds,” when the actual work begins, it often takes more than 1 to 2 minutes beyond the acceptable margin of error.

Then, when I looked at the operation of the graphics card while the AI function was running through the gpu-z app, I found a significant difference in the operation of the GPU and VRAM. Normally, when it takes about 15 seconds, the "GPU load" item in the gpu-z app stays in the 90% range and the "Memory Controller Load" item stays in the 60% range... but when it takes much more time, the "GPU load" item stays at 100% and "Memory Controller Load" stays at 0 to 1%. In short, it is normal for the GPU and the Memory Controller to appear to be working together, but in abnormal cases, only the GPU appears to be working.

It feels like there is something wrong with the operation itself, beyond the scope of simple understanding that “it could be so.”... There doesn't seem to be any special settings in Lightroom Classic related to this, and I'd like to know the proper answer and solution to the cause of this difference, but I'm not sure if I'm the only one experiencing this problem. At least the graphics card itself doesn't have any problems during normal use, so I think it's a problem that occurs while operating in Lightroom, but it's frustrating because I'm not sure about anything.

Have a look at this thread where I mention this same GPU and what I did to fix the problem. There seems to be a reason why Adobe recommends 8GB RAM for the GPU.

Is it ultimately a matter of VRAM size...? Even though it is not a high-resolution photo, I have seen that during normal work, the entire 6GB of VRAM based on RTX2060 is not used, and the maximum usage is less than 5GB. Of course, a model with 8GB or more of VRAM would be better. I'll have to consider replacing it. thank you! 🙂
