Access blocked to preview subdirectory of catalog prevents catalog from being copied to a new disk

Hello,

I want to move a Lr Catalog to a new disk with a larger capacity. To do this, I use the Free File Sync software, which verifies the copy of each file. I can't copy the catalog because of the previews subdirectories for which I can't change the access rights in Windows.

Here's the Free File Sync error message (translated in English):

Unable to open directory "V:\4 Catalogue Lightroom ...\Catalogue Lightroom ...\Catalogue Lightroom ...-v13 Previews.lrdata\3\365F".

ERROR_ACCESS_DENIED: Access denied. [DirReaderPlus]

Here is the error message from windows to modify access rights (translated in English):

An error has occurred while applying security information to .../0008C4.... Container object enumerator failed. Access denied

Here's the procedure I'm trying to follow to restore access rights, but it doesn't work for the Lightroom previews sub-directories: https://www.minitool.com/data-recovery/access-is-denied.html

What should I do?

best regards,

Thibaud

You can simply ignore this. This is an issue with a single preview. Lightroom Classic will happily rebuild it when you use that copied catalog and the image comes in view.

I deleted the previews that seemed to come from a previous version of a catalog.
Here are the 3 files I can't copy:
"V:\Catalogue Lightroom \Catalogue Lightroom \Temporary Import Data.db"

"V:\Catalogue Lightroom \Catalogue Lightroom \Temporary Import Data.db-shm"

"V:\Catalogue Lightroom \Catalogue Lightroom \Temporary Import Data.db-wal"
The copied catalog opens, but I'm not too comfortable with missing files...

These are probably old files that weren't removed by Lightroom Classic because it did not properly quit but crashed one day. They are normally cleared when Lightroom quits. Check their file modification dates. If these are older than the modification date of the catalog file, then that means they weren't used the last time you opened the catalog.

Where you able to copy/move the catalog (not including previews)?

Does that catalog open?

Were Library preview folders then created?

Note that the library previews will be recreated upon use of the LrC catalog if they are missing. The Library previews. Some other issues may occur as to history, and AI masks (separate files/folders)
