Accidentally gave every image in my catalog a one star rating

Please help! I updated to the latest Lightroom Classic (v 14.0.1) and also updated my OS to Sequoia 15.0.1. At some point, I highlighted every image in my catalog (nearly 200,000) and gave them all a one star rating.

I've tried going back to a backup catalog, but I can't open the catalog withoug optimizing it to the new verion of LC. When the catalog opens, the images all have one star. I'm wondering if I should reinstall the previos version of Lightroom Classic and then try to open an older backup catalog to see if the star ratings are still there.

Thanks

I figured it out!
I'd never opened a backed up catalog before and I was trying to do it inside of lightroom. I just needed to click on the backup up .lrcat file and it opened just fine!!!
Whew!

Thanks

Why is this a problem? The upgraded backup should not have the 1 star rating on every photo. That's what you want, isn't it?

Thanks, I don't know what I'm doing wrong, but I've tried to open two previous back up files and it says it has to optimize the catalog before opening due to upgrading to the latest version of LC. (It tells me that once I've optimized for the new LC, the file can't be read by older versions of LC, that's why I want to figure it out before I get into a worse situation.) Each of the catalogs that I've opened so far has the one star rating throughout rather than the custom ratings I've given images over the years! It's very confounding!I'm clearly doing something wrong or trying to open the backup catalogs the wrong way. I'll do some research and maybe reload the previous version of LC.
Thanks

in the future, to find the best place to post your message, use the list here, https://community.adobe.com/

p.s. i don't think the adobe website, and forums in particular, are easy to navigate, so don't spend a lot of time searching that forum list. do your best and we'll move the post (like this one has already been moved) if it helps you get responses.
