Question

Adding to a mask and making an adjustment

Hello everyone

I can create a mask and apply an adjustment to that area. When I add to that same mask, and make another adjustment, the 2nd adjustment is applied only to the area I added, not the entire mask. How to I get both parts of that mask to adjust together?

Thanks for any tips!

John

Hello everyone.

I just tried it again so I can give an example, and of course, it worked perfectly as it should. I had tried it many dozens of times before, and it did not work. Today, the adjustment I made was applied to the original mask and the add-on. Its crazy, but it worked. Thank you for your attempts to help me!

You cold also post on the web, a copy of your photo along with a corresponding xmp file containing the edits. Placing those on say DropBox. Then other members could download and try it out.

I think to simplify that you could export to a DNG, and share a copy of the DNG, as the edits will be included in the DNG file. The DNG can be lossy compressed and still work.

Sounds like you did not add to the existing mask, but created a new mask.

I clicked "Add" directly below the mask and beside "Subtract"

Different mask/brush combinations Add/Subtract/Intersect/etc, can have various results.

I think a video capture may help

A video capture of your workflow will help.

How to record the screen on your Mac

note: typically to share a video in these community pages you save the video to something like DropBox, and allow that file to be shared, and post a link to it in the Community page reply.
