Adjusted capture time MetaData not writing to raw files.

I've shot a wedding with 2 cameras and realised they were out of sync so after importing the photos I edited the Metadata capture date in the Metadata menu in LRC. The adjustment worked wonderfully and all my photos from 2 cameras are now in chronological order. The issue I have now is that this is reflected in LRC only but not in the actual files in Finder. I have saved metadata to files AND ensured that the Catalog Settings > Metadata > EXIF > Write Date Or Time Changes Into Proprietary Raw Files has been checked, however nothing is working.

 

Can I write adjusted capture date metadata to ARW Files or do I have to use a different tool? If so, what tool can I use?

 

Note: I have my photos on Sony RAW files and I'm using the latest version of MacOS and LRC to date. Running on a MacBook Pro M2.

    The Date Added, Date Modified, and Date Created fields shown in Mac Finder are when the operating system added, modified, or created the file (any type of file). 


    The photo capture time shown by LR is different, stored in an EXIF metadata field inside the photo (normally, EXIF:DateTimeOriginal).  Finder displays that capture time in just one place, the preview panel (View > Show Preview):

     

    If you want Finder to sort a folder of files by photo capture time, some options:

     

    - Use utility A Better Finder Attributes to set files' Create Dates to the EXIF capture date.

     

    - In LR, rename the files to include capture date and time in their file names.

     

    - Use a post-process action in Export to run the free utility "exiftool" to set the file create date from the EXIF capture date. (This requires expertise in command-line scripting to get the details right.)

    I have the exact same problem. Also wedding, also two cameras, precisely changed capture time to seconds (who knows, knows...), LrC started using xmp for no reason and as a bonus, I cannot sync these photos. Like never. It will create empty folder (online Album, but whatever) and has the audacity to say "Your Album is empty!" The frustration with 13.5.1 is real.

    Why do you think this has anything to do with the subject of this thread? The OP just mentions the date change not written to the files (probably not true, read John's explanation). Your problem seems to be a sync problem however. I would advise you to start a new thread and explain your problem in detail, also giving details like versions numbers for Lightroom and your OS.

    I can confirm the OPs problem and add some more findings - maybe devs would like to visit this the code, as it seems, that is breaking other modules, like sync. I would love to have LTS versions of LrC
