Adjustment Tools limited in AI mask

If I create a mask using the AI sky mask, I appear to be limited to a small set of adjustment tools to apply. If use any of the adjustment tools outside of this set, the entire photo is affected; not just the masked area.

 

Is this how it's supposed to work? If so it seems of limited value.

And these tiny 'Disclosure Triangles' have caused many to wonder where all the sliders are-

 

"Closed"

With the Effect: panel collapsed (as above) you will see an [Amount] slider that will vary ALL the Brush adjustment sliders with one action. Useful.

 

"Open"

In that document see the section on Mask Panel. You should see

 

 

perhaps you have it minimized, or auto hidden?
