Re: Adobe Lightroom 5, Ver 5.7 –

Background:

I have an old laptop (purchased May, 2013; rarely used now), and a newer desktop (purchased Feb, 2021; used daily); both have Lightroom 5, Ver 5.7 installed.

My old laptop has 40,543 pictures catalogued, 39,194 of which have assigned keywords.

My newer desktop is a different story – recently I realized that my Lightroom copy had somehow been deleted; I managed to re-install it successfully. But it has only referenced on re-install under 2,000 pictures, with no assigned keywords. The lengthy list of previously assigned keywords, however, are still listed.

Before departure from my desktop, I recall at least 50,000 pictures catalogued in Lightroom, most of which I had assigned keywords to.

My Need -

Can you assist me in restoring my desktop version of Lightroom to its previous catalog health?

Obviously my preference is to simply restore using the reference files currently on the desktop, which would get my keyword assignment back. However, if absolutely necessary, I could copy the appropriate files from my laptop, so I don’t have to add keywords to at least 39,000 pictures. But I need to understand what and where these reference files are.

Thanks for your assistance in this challenge.

Sounds like you did not transfer the proper catalog file to the new desktop. Please find all catalog files on the old laptop, transfer each one to the new desktop, and then open each one on the new desktop until you find the catalog file that has your keywords intact.
