Apologies for the delayed response. We've received similar reports from users of other Adobe applications such as Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator. In most cases, the issue was traced back to outdated Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables, and updating them resolved the problem. Here’s how you can fix it:

Here’s how to fix it:

  • Download the latest Visual Studio 2015–2022 Redistributables from Microsoft’s official site:  Latest supported Visual C++ downloads
  • Download and install both x86 and x64 versions.
  • When prompted, allow the installer to make changes to your system.
  • Make sure all Adobe apps are closed before installation.
  • Once installation is complete, restart your computer and then try launching Lightroom Classic again.

Please let us know how it goes!

Hi Srishti,
Firt of all thanks for your quick response.
I followed the link and found the version shown in the screenshot below, but I couldn’t locate release 17.
Am I missing something?

This is kind of strange. Now I also can only see release 14. Just give this a try. This is a legit website from Microsoft.

Hi @gerardo_2324,

I’m really sorry you’re still running into this — I know how disruptive it is when an update affects your workflow, especially when you’re expecting new features and better performance. Thank you for already trying so many troubleshooting steps; that really helps narrow things down. To help the team investigate further, could you share a bit more information and try the following checks:

  • Your Windows version and hardware specs: please make sure they meet the system requirements for the new release.

  • Crash report: If LrC 15.0.1 generates a crash report, please submit it here: https://adobe.ly/3LJRaa8

  • Event Viewer logs: Go to Start Menu > Event Viewer > Windows Logs > Application and look for any recent Lightroom Classic errors. If you find one, please share a screenshot.

  • Reset preferences: If you haven’t tried the manual method yet, please do — and make sure to back up the preference folders before removing them:
    https://adobe.ly/43RXqmH

  • Safe Mode: Try launching Lightroom Classic in Windows Safe Mode to check if a background service or driver is interfering:
    https://adobe.ly/3WTNC7N

  • Antivirus/security software: Please ensure Lightroom Classic is whitelisted.

Once you have this information, share it with us — it will help us pinpoint what’s blocking LrC 15.0.1 from starting on your system. We're here to help you get back up and running.

Regards,

Srishti

so far, nothing is helping. The safe mode did not start the lightroom. I did a factory reset. I carried out a clean installation. I disabled the antivirus and cleaned the firewall.

Yes, thanks, I did everything and tried all these tips. A clean install didn't help. But version 14.5.1 immediately resumes and everything works. So the problem with a clean install or installing to a new account doesn't help. This is not how it should be. I'm paying for new features and I want productivity and new features to work on my computer.
