After catalog update, it appears to be out of date

Lightroom Classic. Windows 11 Home.  Per a LR prompt to update my catalog this morning, I did so. And the process completely hosed my catalog. What I'm seeing for my catalog is what it looked like back in July when I first started using LR.  I do not understand how this can happen. How do I recover from this. The catalog option "File >> Open Recent" only shows this most recently created catalog, the hosed one.  How do I recover from this?

LrC upgraded the wrong catalog file. Use your operating system's search feature to search all folders on all disk(s) for files whose name ends with .LRCAT. One of those is your current catalog file. Open each one found until you find the one you want.
