After finishing further processing in PE 2018 for image from LR 6.12- the tiff file has none of the changes

With my usual workflow I transfer an image from LR 6.12 to Photoshop Elements 2018 for further processing and then wish to simply save the changes and have the image with changes transferred back to LR as an Edit.tif file. I have my preferences for external editing in LR set to - Tiff, Adobe RGB(1998), 16bits/component,Res 300 and compression-none.

I can do this with dFine2 and Viveza and according to all the tutorials I've seen, should also be able to do the same with PE or PS

In PE when i hit Save- a dropbox comes up asking me where to save the changes rather than automatically taking the image back to LR.

Whether i save or not  there is a Edit.tif image created in LR that is exactly the same as the original RAW file with none of the changes i have done in PE

Hope that makes sense- I am unable to achieve what i believe to be the normal work flow when transferring images out of LR for further work. I can't get them back

Regards

Mark

    Hi Mark

Launch the PSE 2018 editor application and go to:

Edit >> Preferences >> Saving Files (from Adobe PSE menu on Mac)

Click the pull-down menu next to “On First Save” and choose: Save over Current File. Then click OK.

Now when you finish editing in PSE 2018 you can simply use Ctrl+S (save) followed by Ctrl+W (close and update LR)

You will possibly find two tiff files in your folder (1) the LR rendered copy which was never saved and overwritten (2) The copy made using “Save As” which creates a new file which LR knows nothing about. It is always essential to use “Save” not the “Save As” dialog.
