After importen of deleten images the screen does not refresh.

Lightroom Classic on Mac Workbook.

I am reorganising Lightroom for a friend (newby on Lr) that has been strugling with Lr the 'trial and error'-way. God knows what switched he has set.

After importing images (+ add to catalog) the images do not show in the screen of the import location, even the count of images remains zero. First after restarting Lightroom they appear as expexted same as the counter.

After deleting the images (from disk) through Lr the usual way, the thumbnails remain on screen but are GREY. Also the counter remains in the old count. After restarting Lr the results on screen are as expected.

Is there a setting wich might be missed or wrongly set?
