After Upgrade to LrC v12.0.x import doesn't recognize already existing photos

After Upgrade to LrC v12.0.x (on macOS) import doesn't recognize already existing photos in the catalogue. When importing photos from my iPhone it shows already existing photos from the catalog in the import dialog as "New Photos". This is new behaviour, I never experienced with previous versions. I don't want to import duplicates.

Does anybody experience the same issue?

I am having similar issues, since upgrading LrC will not import any photos from any source, whether Jpeg or RW2 files have found and looked at all the common issues but all my settings seem to be correct. Any suggestions appreciated. Also is it possible to reinstall LrC without losing all your folder information etc.
