Question

AgStoreProviderSession:getEntityByID: id must be a number or string.

When editing in LR6 Lightroom version: 6.8 [ 1099473 ] (Mac OS X El Capitan 10.11.6 - Graphics NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M 1024 MB). I now frequently get the message:

An internal error has occurred.

AgStoreProviderSession:getEntityByID: id must be a number or string.

The effect is no image (DNG <10Mb) in the "Develop" Module.

Looked on the web and saw that Adobe has had no answer to this. Until the latest update this never occurred. Anyone has the same issue (and solution)?

I have had the exact same issue, and I'm commenting now because the Support team kept referring me to this thread (and others) that was absolutely no help.  Perhaps the next person with this issue may get something out of this though, and save them 8 hours of Support chat.  That's how long it took all up!

I was using Topaz Sharpen AI and Topaz DeNoise AI to edit externally (right clcik, select Edit in...), and was receiving this error message:

An internal error has occurred.

AgStoreProviderSession:getEntityByID: id must be a number or string.

when editing batches of images, however, not for each image in the batch.

I set up a new computer after first encountering the issue, as well as uninstalling and reinstalling all of the applications (both Topaz products and Lightroom) a few times after that, and it made no difference.  Topaz Support were very helpful, but this was definitely a Lightroom error.

After several attempts at Remote Access solutions that made no difference I was asked to create a new catalogue.  So far the error has not persisted with the new catalogue, and I think I have been able to import all of the images across with no loss of work, so fingers crossed.

So, I spoke too soon.  The error persists.

I'm having this issue too. My current work around is to already have photoshop running and just giving the program a second. I still get this message, but it will eventually open in photoshop. Sometimes it takes a couple of tries on the command, but it only opens one. Hopefully they fix this soon, otherwise this is going to be a long recital photo season.

I am also seeing this issue. I am not sure why I would follow steps in an article to resolve an issue in Windows 7, Vista when I am on a Mac running a Mac OS. Will open that article however to see if anything comes out of it.

You are adding you shelf to a four year old post. Not only that, to a post that apparently did not get solved. And to a post that is for an extremely outdated version of LrC.

Please post your own conversation.

When you do, please include Lightroom Classic Version, MACOS version, and the exact error message you get. A big help is to include scrrenshots. For example a screenshot of the error message.

Do not use words like "latest version"

Please use the Insert Photo button to paste in your screenshot, many members absolutly mistrust attachments.

Why a new post?

  • Many members will ignore old posts
  • Your system may not match the original post
  • Your problem may not match the original post, LrC version for example

Also, it can be helpful, and might get asked afterwords to include your System Info as LrC reports it. Following is  my SOP on that

___________________________

Please post your System Information as Lightroom Classic (LrC) reports it. In LrC click on Help, then System Info, then Copy. Paste that information into a reply. Please present all information from first line down to and including Plug-in Info. Info after Plug-in info can be cut as that is just so much dead space to us non-Techs.

But how can I change anything in the Photoshop preference if I cannot even open Photoshop?

It's supposed to be simple: choose photo in LR classic, choose "edit in photoshop2021"...
