AI Edits Storage Error – Lightroom Classic 15.5.1 – reproducible with a new catalog, resolved by rollback to 15.4.1

would like Adobe Support to investigate this as an AI Edits Storage / .lrcat-data problem, rather than repeating the standard troubleshooting steps that I have already completed.

In particular, I would like to know:

  1. Is there a known regression or bug in Lightroom Classic 15.5/15.5.1 affecting AI Edits Storage or .lrcat-data?

  2. Can Adobe Support analyze my existing .lrcat-data file for corruption or structural problems?

  3. Does Adobe have an official .lrcat-data recovery or repair tool that can preserve as much existing AI-edit information as possible?

  4. Can my current catalog and .lrcat-data be safely repaired without replacing the catalog and without unnecessarily losing existing AI edits?

  5. What is the officially recommended procedure for returning my current catalog to a fully functional state with AI editing?

  6. Should I remain on Lightroom Classic 15.4.1 until this issue has been resolved, rather than upgrading the working test environment back to 15.5.1?

I have deliberately not deleted, renamed, modified or replaced my original .lrcat-data file.

I have also made separate copies of the original catalog and .lrcat-data so that they are preserved for diagnostic or recovery purposes.

The most important reproducible result is:

Lightroom Classic 15.5.1 + completely new catalog + one RAW + Denoise → AI Edits Storage error

Lightroom Classic 15.4.1 + completely new catalog + same type of test → AI edits are saved correctly

I would therefore appreciate it if this case could be escalated to the Lightroom Classic technical team if necessary.

I am particularly interested in preserving my existing AI edits and would prefer an official Adobe recovery/repair procedure rather than deleting or rebuilding the .lrcat-data file myself.

    Welcome to the Lightroom Classic Community, and thanks for documenting this so thoroughly. Before we take this further, I’d like to collect a few diagnostics from the affected 15.5.1 environment.

    Please share:

    • Help > System Info > Copy from Lightroom Classic 15.5.1.

    • The affected .lrcat and .lrcat-data files, including the new test catalog that reproduces the error if possible. Please upload them to a file-sharing service and send me the link via DM rather than posting them publicly.

    • Confirm whether the test catalog is stored on an internal or external drive.

    Please continue to preserve your original .lrcat-data and don’t delete, rename, or modify it. If 15.4.1 is currently working reliably, you can remain on it for now.
