AI Enhance causes strong artifacts under macOS 12

Adobe Lightroom and LR Classic has been malfunctioning for a few weeks now. Under iOS 12, after the ai enhance functions (both super resolution and noise reduction) show artifact stripes. The result is terrible. Reinstalling, turning GPU acceleration off and on or downgrade to previous version doesn't help. The computer works fine, Apple diagnostics found no errors. I have attached the details below. Does anyone have an idea as to the cause of the error? Under Windows everything works fine.

You have an older computer with a weak integrated GPU and only 8GB of RAM. Unfortunately this combination is marginal for things like AI image processing. You can try using Bridge/Photoshop and Adobe Camera RAW but its the same technology as in Lightroom and likely to have the same limitations.

Additionally, both Apple and Adobe will be ending support for macOS 12 Monterey. Apple just released macOS 15 Sequoia and they support the current and two versions back. This means no more security fixes from Apple and the upcoming Adobe app releases (due at Adobe MAX conference in October) won't be available to you.

Best bet at this point is to start looking at upgrading to a new or refurb Apple Silicon Mac.

Thanks for the answers. I know that my macbook is an oldtimer. But I really like it, it's my handy mobil tool. We had many adventures together. 🙂 I don't want to throw it away if it works. But if there is no workaround solution, I'll buy another, newer one.

    This is most likely caused by your GPU, which is 10 years old, and not up to the task of running the intensive processes that LrC now use the GPU for. Enhance runs entirely in the GPU, even if you disable the GPU in preferences.
