Question

AI mask edits not uploading to cloud

I am running Lightroom CC Classic (v12.4) on a Windows 11 desktop PC with a AMD Ryzen 9 3900X CPU, 16GB RAM, and RTX2080 GPU.

I have edited several hundred DNG images, a number of which have been edited using the AI masks to select people. Once the edits have been made on one image, I sync them across a number of similar images. The edits show up correctly as completed on all those images.

I then create a collection with all the images, synced to the Adobe cloud, and made public. (I send a link to other people so they can see and download the images)

However the AI mask edits are not uploaded to the cloud. The images when seen online in a browser, appear to be partly edited. When I view the images in Lightroom CC on my (MacBook) laptop, the same problem is present.

I have got round the problem by exporting the edited DNGs as Tiff files, and placing those in the collection instead of the edited DNG files.

Is this a known bug? Is there a recognised solution?

Hey @LocalHero1953. Welcome to the Lightroom Classic community. I'll help you figure this out.

What version of Lightroom & the operating system are you working on? Does this happen only with the images that had specific sets of masks?

What troubleshooting steps have you tried?

Try this:

  • Log on to Lightroom Web (https://lightroom.adobe.com) & check the Sync issues category if it exists.
  • Create a new album in Lightroom Classic & let Lightroom Classic sit idle for a while & go to Lightroom Web to compare if the created album has images with the same edits.
  • Use Lightroom Web to share the link to the album with your client.

Let me know how it goes. Thanks!

Thanks for the reply, Sameer.

As per my original post, I am using Lightroom Classic version: 12.4 [ 202306052221-b70c0975 ], and Windows 11 Pro build 22621.1992, last updated 13/7/23

There are no relevant sync issues (just old issues, about to two unrelated files).

The errors appear to happen with AI masks of people, but I have not explored whether it happens with other masks or edits.

My first step in posting this was to find if it is a known issue, and so avoid going through a whole lot of testing and analysis.

My normal practice already is to share Lightroom Web links with my clients. I only noticed the problem when I checked the link myself. I had to take emergency steps yesterday to share properly edited photos to my client using tiffs, and have removed the faulty collection.

I shall make some further tests to find out exctly which edits are problematic.
