Ai noise reduction not working lightroom classic

Suddenly the ai noise reduction in lightroom classic does not work, what is wrong?

Correct answer JohanElzenga

Finally some useful info. That sounds like Lightroom might not have permissions to write to the folder, or perhaps the drive is almost full. Denoise creates a new file, so Lightroom needs to be able to write that file to disk. The error suggests that it can't for some reason.

Hey everyone, has anyone noticed any issues with noise reduction in the latest Lightroom 'Denoise' feature? 😲 I'm experiencing some unexpected results and would love to hear if anyone else has encountered the same or found a solution!

That looks like a GPU issue. Make sure you have updated your GPU drivers to the latest version.

I have the same problem as of 15/02/2025. Working in Windows. Classic does not save the dng, it starts  says loading enhance data and does nothing. Adobe Lightroom does the dng but I prefer classic and have a lot of presets in classic. I cannot locate that file to delete in the users folder. maybe someone can suggest an alternative. I am using Adobe Lightroom Classic  14.1.1 and my drive has 165 gb spare. Strance that lightroom does the dng and classic does not

I know its 2025, but that problem is when you dont enought disk space on the external drive your working from, same goes for the internal drive your working from if you do it that way. LR will look for quite a bit of disk or SSD room "even if there is quite a bit free" before it finishing the task. If you havent got that space, the program will just throw the error at end of the task.

The problem for me was the file name. It had a comma and a slash. Simplify the file name and it will probably work. It did for me.

En mi caso no aparece el panel para regular el ruido, simplemente ejecuta, sin crear un nuevo DNG y modificando el mismo raw agregando cuadros de error

In my case the panel to regulate the noise does not appear, it simply executes, without creating a new DNG and modifying the raw itself by adding error boxes"

I don't know how to correct it, in the previous version of Camera Raw it worked well, although it often drew the same error frames.

That is the new version of Camera Raw. It has a public beta of a new method of Denoise, that does not create a DNG anymore. It is not Lightroom and this new method cannot be used in Lightroom yet.

I have an update on my issue with denoise.

When I create the denoised image, Lightroom puts the new image in a new folder that doesn't exist outside of lightroom.

For example my photos for January 1st of this year live here, NAS/Lightroom/raw pictures/2024/2024-01-01.

If I create a denoised photo from that folder, lightroom will create a new folder and put just the denoised photo in it here, NAS/2024-01-01

If I look on my hard drive that new folder does not exist.

If I try to move the denoised photo from the new folder into its correct location within Lightroom, Lightroom tells me that the photo can't be moved because it already exists in that location.

If I look at the folder on my hard drive, the denoised photo does exist in the correct location here, NAS/Lightroom/raw pictures/2024/2024-01-01. However it is impossible to import the denoised photo into that exact same folder in lightroom. This doesn't make any sense. Lightroom seems to think the photo is in its catalogue at that location even though it is not.

Could this be becuase my photos are stored on a NAS?

I don't get this problem when the original photos are stored on a local drive.

I know lightroom doesn't officially support NAS storage but I have been working this way for years without issue. By the way Adobe, it's time to add NAS support for Lightroom! I don't need the Lightroom catalogue to live on the NAS but at least support picture storage on a NAS.

"When I create the denoised image, Lightroom puts the new image in a new folder that doesn't exist outside of lightroom. "

This is a well-known problem, called the 'Capitalisation problem'. Basically, what happens is that you have two different folders, one called ‘XXXX’ (or a combination of upper- and lower cast) and the other one called ‘xxxx’. In other words, the names are the same, except for the capitalisation of at least one letter. Because MacOS and Windows are case-insensitive, your OS sees those two folders as one and the same folder and so it deals with this without you even being aware of it. You will only see one single folder in the Mac Finder or Windows Explorer!!! But Lightroom is case-sensitive, so Lightroom does see two different folders. Here's how to fix the problem. https://www.lightroomqueen.com/capitalization-catalog-error/

Hi i hade issue with AI Denoise in Details in LIGHTROOM CLASSIC it use to run the progress bar and at the end of the progress bar about 10 ti 15 % it just crashed without error but did not finish the job. i checked my root folder on my ssd (hardisk) it created DNG but files were not loading. the problem was the ssd (harddisk) didnot have eanough space to generate dng and load in LIGHTROOM. just by making space on the ssd (harddisk) resolved the problem. its working .

PLEASE don't forget to go in to the root folder on the disk and delete the dng files before giving DENOISE command again

Mine works fine again now that I cleared my Mac and got a bigger external hard drive. I only move onto my mac what I'm.working on currently and then move it back onto the harddrive once done! Seems to have worked. Must have just been too much going on for lightroom to concentrate.

Mine does this when my computer gets too hot. It's really annoying. I usually have to turn it off for like an hour or two.

Normally I would request that you post your own discussion as opposed to replying a "Me to". It has been a year since the above posting was placed, and their has been two LrC updates since, (13.2, then 13.3, then bug fix 13.3.1, then 13.4). Not to mention, what is your OS? (original poster has MACOS)

But I will ask the following:

Please post your System Information as Lightroom Classic (LrC) reports it. In LrC click on Help, then System Info, then Copy. Paste that information into a reply. Please present all information from first line down to and including Plug-in Info. Info after Plug-in info can be cut out as that is just so much dead space to us non-Techs and it takes up vast amounts of scroll space making the reply less readable and less likely that others will bother with your post.

Thanks for looking into this @GoldingD 🙂

We've been through this in another thread that I started:

https://community.adobe.com/t5/lightroom-classic-discussions/ai-denoise-not-working-lightroom-classic/m-p/14140553#M337565

I'm just trying to follow any related thread to find a solution. 💁‍

I have even bought a new GPU to see if it would help.
