AI? Smart Tags? Keywords? Adobe ELEMENTS ...stuff?? as of Aug 2023

Q: Can I "Smart Tags" in LightRoomCC yet? OR am I now (aug. 2023) expected to get Adobe Photoshop and/or Premiere ELEMENTS, to utilize Smart Tagging?

Greetings. I've been playing with Lightroom for quite a while, but not seriously. I am not a photographer but am a Web Designer for 10 years, and then an Instructional Designer for the past 11 years. This has caused me to acquire a (poop-)TON of lots of very random images. I have finally started to try gathering them from CD-ROMs, image purchases, a folder over here, an external hard drive there....

To that end, it would surely be agony to move them AND (keyword) tag them one at a time, so that I could maybe use them elsewhere someday? . Surely Lightroom does that SMART TAGging thing ala Adobe Sensei! Oh, but...

https://wordroom.org/ touts itself as an Adobe plug-in, but if you go into your Adobe Creative Cloud (app), and search Plug Ins for it, it doesn't exist! Further, you can (only?) "Enter your email address to download the plugin!" - from wordroom.org. I don't want who knows who, for who knows what for. Also!- the YouTube video on its owner imagga.com's site has the wordroom plugin downloaded already, and able to be gotten from LightRoom's Plug-In Manager. Again, I think that's a little sketchy. Does anyone have anything NICE to say about Wordroom?

I found a thread from 2017, within here, that says Lightroom DOES auto-keyword tagging. And while we can use them to search for assets, WE don't get to see those keywords/tags. Is that still true?

Finally, Adobe seems to want you to steer your needs for a Digital Asset Manager toward ELEMENTS, where you pay a one-time but EXTRA $$$ to "upgrade" your Photoshop and/or Premiere into the "Elements Family" , where the Elements Organizer will happily Smart Tag and Auto Curate for you (and you can still do keyword tagging). Two options to "Tag Your Media".

(Actually, I guess, to be thorough, you could get your own Adobe Experience Cloud/Manager.

What to do?

Thanks!

Raph

Apologies in advance if there is already a post about all this (recent) stuff. You can't search posts for AI because not enough characters. Please reply to this with the already-Post and I'll gladly move over there.

Lightroom CC does not exist anymore, there is Lightroom Classic and just Lightroom. The latter is the version that stores the images in the cloud and it has smart tagging. Lightroom Classic does not and most likely will never get that, although there are indeed several plugins that can auto-tag. Not all plugin authors use Adobe's exchange to plugins, so the fact that Wordroom isn't in there does not mean anything in my opinion. I don't use it, so I have no other comments on it.

Thank for that information, sorry for getting Lr "flavors" wrong. It sounds like  Lightroom (cloud) would then still be a way to go (rather than pay an additional amount to have (to use) it in photoshop / premiere elements)? //OR// have you found an optimal solution?

My optimal solution is that I don't use auto tagging. I rather do it myself.
