Question

Alias folders are not shown on the import tree - Mac OS

Hi,

We are trying to edit photos from a Google Drive folder through the GDrive Desktop App. I've shared to my colleague a GDrive folder with all the photos. He has then created a direct access to this shared folder on his GDrive and the ALIAS FOLDER is now appearing on Finder.

When he opens LR, the alias folder is not appearing on the importing tree.

Is this a bug or is it normal behavior?

Thanks in advance.

Lightroom Classic does show an alias to a normal folder as if it's a folder. I'm not sure that it will show an alias to a shared folder however.

Thanks Johan!

It looks like it doesn't... But we've solved this by the end creating a SHARED UNIT on GDrive and both of us reading from that unit.

Do you know if it would be also possible to share a LR Catalog files on that shared unit? So we both work on the same catalog 🙂

Thanks a lot!

I do not know how Google Drive works exactly, but Lightroom catalogs cannot be on a network volume. If this is essentially a local folder that is synced, then it may work. Until you both try to access the catalog at the same time and corrupt it.
