Aligning Images in Lightroom Classic

Multiple images can be aligned by loading them into Photoshop as layers and then aligning them with the tools there.  However I can't find a way to bring the aligned images back to Lightroom.  Save creates n image that is a merge of the aligned images in Photoshop and saving the individual layers is both tedious and it seems to lose other edits performed in Photoshop.

Can you please explain what you are trying to achieve with "bring the aligned images back to Lightroom"?

He might be trying to work around the issue of trying to batch auto-align multiple photos in Lightroom. For some reason, auto-aligning multiple photos in Lightroom will align according to the angle of the highlighted photo and not align based on each photo individually. I'm currently looking for a solution to this issue myself.

If the Photoshop document contains separate aligned layers, the document should not be merged on save. It might look merged in Lightroom Classic, and if you open it from Lightroom Classic into Photoshop it can end up merged if the wrong option is selected. But if the right option is selected, it should be fine.

If the layered, aligned Photoshop document is cataloged in Lightroom Classic and you send it to Photoshop using the Edit In command, make sure you choose Edit Original or Edit a Copy. If you do that, the document is opened in Photoshop as it is, a layered document. If you choose Edit a Copy with Lightroom Adjustments, it opens as merged in Photoshop because Lightroom can only apply its adjustments to the document as a composite.
