Question

All Folders Disappeared When Merging Two Folders

I have Lightroom 5 and am a bit of a novice.  I hope I remember this action correctly.  I attempted to merge a subfolder (a folder under the primary folder?) with the primary folder that had slightly different name (I had apparently changed the original folder name) because there was a '?' in the subfolder.  A window appeared and when I clicked on the merge button, all my folders disappeared and now all my photographs are all together under the Catalog drop down. Can I CTRL Z do undo this action and recover all my folders to their previous status (here is also now 'Undo Change Source' under Edit)?  Help!

I don't think they disappeared, they moved to the folder where you told Lightroom to move the folder to.

Well, the CTRL Z approach did not solve the disappearing folders issue, BUT closing the program, doing a restart and (re)opening Lightroom did.  All my folders reappeared in their original configuration, AND the subfolder merge into the primary folder was accomplished as I had instructed (so, as noted above, Lightroom did what I told it to do, at least on the folder merge).  As an interesting side bar, and after reading several other posts, there is not a (published) way to undo a folder merge.  If anyone has any sage on a way to undo such a merge, jump in, but it seems odd (at least to a novice user) that a folder merge action cannot be undone.
