Question

All images have a 'custom' develop preset, instead of 'default settings'

Using the column explorer in the library module, all photos, even those just imported, are listed as having a 'custom' develop present, instead of 'default settings' as they should. There are no adjustments applied during import, I double checked.

This is strange behavior and it's thoroughly screwed with my system. I use 'default settings' in a smart collection to determine which images haven't been touched, and thus which ones can be deleted after a few months. Now my drive is full and my method of clearing out unwanted files is broken because of this glitch or bug or whatever it is.

Super frustrating. Is anyone else having this problem?

/EDIT/ The experiment below is bogus. My dumb error, used an edited image as opposed to one SOC.

Ok, found time to experiment, went ahead and applied the current develop module state of one image as default. Then went and imported an image from the same camera, Import screen stated nothing about a preset or anything being applied. In t=develop, for the new image, all those mods to various sliders where already part of the image mod.BUT, history only lists Import. Not Custom Preset, Ah, but I did not apply a custom preset.

Opps, will be back, need to look in library. Was that in the metadata?

Just checked and that setting has not been changed. The photos I am currently importing are coming through as "custom" develop preset, but nothing in the 'apply on import' panel, and nothing in the panels and settings your link described.

Are you sure you're not seeing the Lightroom default settings for your camera? Maybe you need to create new default settings that reflect the way you want your newly imported images to be treated.
