Already have Adobe Design Standard CS6, would like to add Lightroom

Hej guys, the title already says it: I already have Adobe Design Standard as a desktop version and I do not bother to continue working with outdated software. In fact, for a hobby, there's no point to have monthly costs for a software, I don't even use every month.

Very late I got convinced by the advantages of lightroom for basic photo editing and management so I'd like to get it, without buying into the cloud.

Is there still any possibility? That would be so great!

Best wishes, Nico

Not possible unless you find and can use LR 5 on the OS you are using. So you would need a FULL Retail version of LR 5 that no one else has activated the serial number for.

Honestly, I have no idea what you mean by "without buying into the cloud".

Lightroom Classic (if that's what you mean) runs on your local computer and can only be purchased by subscription only, It has some cloud features (which are optional, and you never have to use them). It also has to be activated via the Adobe Creative Cloud application, but you only need to be connected to the internet once every 30 days to verify your subscription has been paid, the rest of the time you can be offline.

The other software, with the similar name, Lightroom, stores your photos in the cloud (you can't turn this off) and therefore you must be connected to the internet to view or do anything with your photos in Lightroom.

Hi dj_paige,

I am sorry for not being exactly precise. What I meant was, that I do not want a subscription, I would be fine, with an outdated version of LR, I only buy once which does not generate any monthly costs.

Well, honestly Lightroom 5 is many years old now (I think 5 years), so I would not recommend it. You can buy newer software that is up to date and is a single purchase, such as Photoshop Elements; and there are very good offerings from other software manufacturers as well, that ought to give you more capability than Lightroom 5.

Thanks for the quick response, although it's kinda sad!

So, if anyone here has a not activated Retailversion of LR 5, as "just shoot me" described, you're welcome to contact me ;-)

And I said LR 5 because AFAIK LR 6, the last stand alone perpetual license version, was only available as a Download (No physical disc version was issued) and that has been pulled unless you already had a valid serial number.
