Is there a metadata field I've missed for Alt Text on a website?

Alt text on websites is not taken from metadata, it is a tag in the <img> HTML markup on the website, so you can't do anything in the image metadata to set it but you need to edit the HTML markup.

Thanks. I am using the Envira Wordress plugin on my website. There is a LR plug-in too that syncs collections with the corresponding galleries on my website. I tried manually editing the alt text field on an image on my website and then published the image from LR and the Alt Text field got erased. Not sure why if it’s not part of the metadata.

My guess is that when you publish all data you entered on the website on the image gets replaced. What I understand from a quick google search is that there are ways to make wordpress plugins use one of the image's metadata fields from the images uploaded to fill in the alt text field but that that is very specific to the plugin you are using how to accomplish that.
