Question

An intermittent problem importing images into Lightroom Classic

When I import images from my hard drive into Lightroom Classic, latest version, I sometimes get hundreds of images from other, totally unrelated folders, along with those from the nominated folder. This has happened in the last week with three folders amongst the hundred plus folders which I have imported over several years.

First, can you confirm, by looking in your Windows Explorer at the folder you are trying to import, that the photos from totally unrelated folders haven't somehow (accidentally) been placed in the folder you are trying to import?

Yes, thank you, I can confirm that the folders each contain just the
expected images when I view them on the portable hard drive, but they get
about some hundreds or even thousands of additional images from other
folders when I attempt to re-import them to Lightroom Classic.

Thanks for your interest. My daughter has suggested that I move the images
to a new folder and try the import again. I have just tried that and it
worked. So that solves the immediate problem but it is just a workaround
and it should not be required if the programme were working properly.
