Please help smarter people than me.

I've been on a 2 week holiday and Lightroom Classic has going to sh*t on me.

I'm getting an error that says "An unknown error occured 51", and now I can import photos".

I'm running 14.1.1 (I just upgraded hoping this would help the problem.

Mac version: 15.2 (24C101)

I'm just trying to import.

Correct answer Rob_Cullen

"However, I discovered a "/" in my filename. Removing that fixed everything"

Yes, that would be an 'illegal' character- best to use only alpha characters and spaces or underlines.

"LRC not recognising some of my folders"

If you corrected folders and filenames with the OS file browser by removing the "/" then you would encounter 'Missing' folders and photos in the LrC catalog.

An Error 51 can also appear if the folder Destination for the file import is not writable ( normally this error would show "not writable")

Check your Disk and Folder Read/Write permissions.

Hi Guys,

Thank you to you wonderful wise people.

This is what I've done so far.

Checked that my drives are writtable - they are. I've copied other files across and they write.

Resetting the preferences.

Rolled back to 13.5

Used a back up

I've rebooted.

I've checked that LRC is compatible with Sequoia.

However, I discovered a "/" in my filename. Removing that fixed everything

I still have problems with LRC not recognising some of my folders but that's not my immediate problem.

I've done everything that I've done for the last 7 years and now it's stopped working.

Thank you for your support

A typical reply to this is to ask if you have considered resetting the preferences file that might be corrupted?
