Question

Auto Import feature - How do I turn on "Make a Second Copy to" in Auto Import

When using Standard "Import" I can choose to copy the imported files to another drive with "Make a Second Copy to:"  to make an instant backup of files.

But I can't find how to turn this on for the "Auto Import" feature (File, Auto Import).

This seems crazy, where am I missing where to turn on this feature for "Auto Import"?
Why would images transferred with FTP be any less valuable than those imported using the Import button? This also appears true for Tethered Capture.

Thanks

Marv

For me and many others, the "Make a Second Copy to:" feature is not considered particularly useful as it does not create a mirrored folder structure in that second copy (so restoring missing or deleted photos from a 'second copy' becomes a nightmare.)

Many that do use it might consider it only as a 'temporary' backup of files until the imported image files are backed up independently of Lr-Classic thus preserving the imported folder structure.

Your idea is interesting however if it were to offer the option to make mirrored folders on another drive.

Rob,
I see your point.  For me, It would be a temporary backup Until I have a chance to cull the images and then copy the LR catalog and images to my Raid.
I was in the process of editing images the other day when my M.2 working drive disappeared from Windows.  Scrary Sh($,  I was able to partially recover the drive and 98% of the work on that drive, and that got me thinking that I should have an immediate backup of all images while I'm shooting with WiFi uploads.  I can redo the culling and editing but if I lose the files... GULP!

Hi Marv,

I can only think there might be an automatic system app to backup your images as they are added to a 'Destination' folder by the Auto Import.

Maybe something like Windows RoboCopy, See the GUI option in the link- (Havn't used, so no details.)

And something like Free File Sync (freeware app) could do the job-
