Auto import not working with tethered capture

I hope I’m not wrong but I think tethered shooting and Auto Import are two different settings?

Tethered shooting:

The captured image goes directly to the folder specified in File > Tethered Capture > Start Tethered Capture (Tethered Capture Settings), which is the path in the Destination section. It doesn’t get moved or copied anywhere else. More specifically, the tethered-captured images go into a subfolder named after the session name, but they’re all within the path set in that Destination section. It is not necessary to involve Watched Folder/Auto Import settings in this process at all, and none of these settings interact with Watched Folder/Auto Import in any way.

Auto-Import:

For this separate feature, File > Auto Import > Auto Import Settings has two paths, which are not related to the Tethered Shooting Destination.

Watched Folder is where files can be added in order for Auto Import to pick them up.

Destination is the folder where Auto Import files are moved.

So, the question is:

Are you using Tethered Capture alone, as most people do,

or…

Are you trying to gang up the separate Tethered Capture and Watched Folder/Auto Import features by trying to coordinate their folder settings, like making the Watched Folder the same as the Tethered Capture Destination? (This is not common)

None of these involve duplication. Auto Import moves, Tethered Capture does nothing to a tethered capture photo after saving it to the Destination path / Session Name folder.

In any case, another thing to check is to verify that the folder paths are still valid. What I mean is that sometimes I don’t use Tethered Capture or Watched Folder for a few months, and the next time I use them, it fails and I realize that it’s because since the last time I used the feature, I changed the folder structure or folder names, or switched drives, and need to properly re-select the folder in the settings.

Another possible cause: Lightroom Classic is running into macOS folder permissions issues that prevent it from writing to the folder, such as one or more of the following:

“Locked” attribute selected for the folder in Finder > Get Info 

“Read Only” permissions set for the folder in Finder > Get Info 

Lightroom Classic not being given permission to use the folder in macOS System Settings / Privacy & Security / Files and Folders or Full Disk Access

Duplication is not part of the Auto Import process. Files detected in the Watched Folder are moved to the Destination folder.
